3V Electric Brewery Controller

✓
Designed and assembled in Vancouver, BC. Delivered price on every US order — no customs, no surprises.

A whole HERMS brewery on one dryer outlet. The 3V runs your hot liquor tank, mash and boil from one wall-mount 240V panel: three temperature controllers with boil-over protection, two element outlets and two pump outlets on a single 30 A circuit. Three RTD probes are in the box. Hand-built in Vancouver, BC.

How a brew day runs on one circuit

  1. Heat strike water: Element Select on HLT. The HLT element heats to strike temperature.
  2. Mash: one pump recirculates the mash through the HERMS coil in the hot HLT, and the Mash controller reads the wort coming back from the mash tun.
  3. Sparge: the second pump moves hot water from the HLT to the mash tun.
  4. Boil: flip Element Select to Boil. The same 30 A circuit now powers the boil kettle element. Set the boil power %, and the timer starts on its own once the kettle reaches temperature.

Only one 5,500 W element runs at a time, by design. Some three-vessel panels need two circuits or a 50 A service to fire two elements at once; the 3V doesn't.

In the box

  • 3V control panel with a 6 ft (1.8 m) power cord and NEMA 14-30 plug
  • Three temperature probes with 3 m (10 ft) shielded cords

You'll also need

  • Two 240V elements up to 5,500 W with L6-30 twist-lock plugs
  • Up to two 120V brew pumps
  • A 1.5" tri-clamp port on each vessel for its probe

Electrical requirements

  • A 240V, 30 A NEMA 14-30R receptacle, the same one an electric clothes dryer uses, on a 30 A double-pole breaker.
  • We recommend GFCI protection on every brewing circuit.
  • Have any new 240V circuit installed by a qualified electrician. Our electrical calculator works out the breaker and wire size.
