All-in-one systems · comparison

Anvil Foundry vs Unibräu

Both are electric all-in-one systems: mash in a basket, lift it, boil in the same kettle. The Anvil Foundry costs much less, has an insulated double-wall kettle and includes an immersion chiller, but its pump is extra and two of its three sizes are on pre-order. The Unibräu ships with its pump, is tri-clamp stainless throughout, puts 5,500 W into every 240V size, and is in stock with a two-year warranty.

Price

The Foundry is the lowest-cost way into all-grain electric brewing, especially for small 2.5 to 5 gallon batches. Add its recirculation pump kit and it is still far below a Unibräu. What the Unibräu adds is the pump in the box, tri-clamp fittings throughout, a published wall thickness, a 5,500 W element at 240V, and a two-year warranty from the people who build it.

Power and the boil

At 120V the two are about even: 1,650 W against 1,600 W. Anvil’s own manual gives about half a gallon an hour of boil-off on 120V, and a full gallon an hour on 240V. The Unibräu can add a second 1,650 W element on another 15 A circuit for 3,300 W on household power.

At 240V, the Foundry 10.5 runs 2,800 W and the 18 gal 4,000 W. Every Unibräu runs 5,500 W, about twice the 10.5’s power for a 5 gallon batch.

The kettle

The Foundry’s double-wall kettle is insulated, which holds mash temperature with less power: a real advantage. The Unibräu is single-wall 304 stainless, 1.0 mm in the 10G and 1.2 mm in the 20G and 30G, on a flat sandwich bottom, with every port a 1.5" tri-clamp.

Availability and support

MoreBeer lists the Foundry 6.5 and 10.5 on pre-order for early 2027 and the 18 gal as unavailable. MoreFlavor, which owns MoreBeer, bought Anvil’s assets and says it did not take on earlier warranty obligations, though it will help where it can. The Unibräu is in stock in Vancouver, ships within about a week, and carries a two-year warranty with lifetime parts support.

Which should you buy?

Choose the Anvil Foundry if you brew small batches, want the lowest price and an insulated kettle, and can wait for the pre-order.

Choose the Unibräu if you want the pump included, tri-clamp stainless throughout, 5,500 W at 240V, 10 to 30 gallon sizes in stock now, and a two-year warranty.

FAQ

Is the Anvil Foundry discontinued?

Not as of October 12, 2026: MoreBeer lists the 6.5 and 10.5 gallon models on pre-order for early 2027 and the 18 gallon as unavailable. Anvil’s website now redirects to MoreBeer.

Which Unibräu matches a Foundry 10.5?

The Unibräu 10G: both make about 5 gallons into the fermenter, and the 10G goes to 6. The 20G matches the Foundry 18 (about 10 gallons).

Does the Unibräu come with a chiller?

No. The pump is included; the chiller is an add-on, an all-stainless counterflow with tri-clamp ends. An immersion chiller you already own works in the Unibräu kettle.

How do you compare with BrewZilla, Spike and Clawhammer?
