Brew System Comparison

Bräu Supply invented this. Everyone else copied it.

The single-vessel electric brewhouse — recirculating wort through a stainless grain basket on a tri-clamp element, with controlled mash temperatures in a footprint that fits on a kitchen counter — was first built by Bräu Supply in 2014. With sanitary tri-clamp throughout, a stainless grain basket and false bottom, a recirculating pump circuit, and the retention ring that holds the architecture together. Every single-vessel electric brewhouse on the market today using this architecture is a reproduction of one of our generations.

We're proud of that. And we want to be straightforward with brewers about what they're buying and from whom.

What we actually engineered

Bräu Supply's contribution to electric brewing wasn't a kettle with a controller bolted on. It was an architecture, brought together piece by piece across multiple generations:

  • Sanitary 1.5" tri-clamp throughout — every port (element, recirculation supply and return, lid) is a welded TC ferrule. We were the first to bring full commercial-grade tri-clamp standards to homebrew-scale electric brewing.
  • The stainless grain basket — the precision-perforated stainless basket and false bottom that's now standard across the category started on our system. The mesh-basket version that came before it was also ours. Both have since been copied.
  • Recirculating mash with a magnetic-drive pump and retention ring — controllable step mash temperatures without tilting, without lifting hot grain, without a separate mash tun. The retention ring that holds the basket and the pump circuit that drives the loop — both first appeared on our system.
  • Multi-vessel scaling architecture — same ports, same fittings, same hardware whether you're brewing at 5G or 1 BBL. The same tri-clamp standard you start with at homebrew scales to commercial pilot operations without retooling.

The DrainPro bottom drain — our 2025 vessel update — completes the architecture with a welded TC outlet in the bottom plate for cleaner transfers and CIP-compatible cleanup. The bottom-drain approach has become standard across the category; we built ours to integrate cleanly with the rest of our tri-clamp build.

Buying from the originator means buying from the source

  • 12 years of refinement — every issue brewers reported has been engineered out across multiple generations
  • Standard tri-clamp parts — every clamp, gasket, valve, and adapter is industry-standard sanitary hardware. No proprietary trap.
  • Direct factory access — designed and assembled in Vancouver, BC. Spec questions answered by the people who built it, not a help desk reading from a script.
  • Tariff-free to the USA — duties and brokerage included at checkout. No surprise import fees.
  • 2-year warranty + lifetime parts support — every component is individually replaceable. The architecture is designed to be serviced, not replaced.

Which Bräu Supply system fits your brewery?

Pick by scale, vessel count, and whether you want to ferment in the same vessel.

System Vessels Best for Scale
Unibräu Single-vessel hot side Brewing only — flat-bottom, simple architecture 10G / 20G / 30G
Unibräu DrainPro Single-vessel hot side Brewing only — sloped bottom drain, cleaner transfers 10G / 20G / 30G
Unibräu All-In Single vessel (combo) Brew + pressure ferment in one vessel 10G / 20G
BräuPro Homebrewing Two-vessel (DrainPro MT + Unitank) Brew + ferment in dedicated vessels, batch independence 5G / 10G / 20G
BräuPro 1 BBL Two-vessel (DrainPro MT + 40G Unitank) Pilot-scale two-vessel 1 BBL
HERMS Electric Brewery Three-vessel (HLT + MT + BK) Step mash, classic three-vessel hot side 10G / 20G / 30G / 50G

The spec sheet — compare us against anyone

If you're shopping multiple brands, here's our build spec. Compare it against any other electric brewhouse on the market:

  • 304 stainless · fully TIG-welded · mirror polished inside and out
  • 1.2 mm wall on 10G/20G vessels; 1.5 mm on 30G/50G — heaviest in the category at every size
  • Sanitary 1.5" tri-clamp throughout — every port. No NPT threads. No proprietary fittings.
  • Welded TC bottom drain on DrainPro vessels — zero threaded joints, zero leak points
  • ULWD heating element — ultra-low watt density to prevent scorching
  • 2-year full warranty + lifetime parts support — every component individually replaceable

One last thing

You'll find comparison pages from other brands listing what they think they do better than Bräu Supply. Read them. Then come back and look at the spec sheet above. The brewing equipment world is small — every brewer eventually meets the architecture they should have started with. We'd rather it be us, but more importantly, we'd rather you brew on the right gear, full stop.
