Three reasons. (1) Industrial chillers ship LTL with significant freight + brokerage variation by region — quoting at checkout would either overcharge half our buyers or undercharge the other half. (2) Most cellars buy the chiller alongside the BFT-67 reservoir, a custom plumbing manifold, and a recommended electrician spec — packaging that as one quote is the right shape. By peak load. BEF-300: 28,500 BTU/hr, around a 20 BBL hall running mostly ales. BEF-500: 46,000 BTU/hr, around a 40 BBL hall, or smaller halls running back-to-back lager crashes. BEF-800 (BEF-300 + BEF-500) and BEF-1000 (two BEF-500s) run on one BFT-67 for bigger loads or a built-in backup. Send us your fermenter list and we size it in the quote.

No. These units also run straight line, without a reservoir. Most production halls add the BFT-67 (67 gal) because (1) more thermal mass means a steadier supply temperature under variable demand, (2) it takes up to 10 pumps, one per fermenter, and (3) it takes a second unit, which is how the BEF-800 and BEF-1000 are built.

Run a 220V single-phase circuit to the chiller location — 50A breaker + disconnect for BEF-300, 70A for BEF-500. Wire the chiller's terminal block to that disconnect (no plug, no whip). We send the schematic to your electrician before the unit ships. Typical half-day install if the panel + circuit is already there; full day if a new circuit needs to be pulled. Your brewery contractor handles the glycol manifold + insulated trunk separately.

Yes. The BFT-67 takes two chiller units. Start with one BEF-300 or BEF-500 on a BFT-67, then add a second unit later to make a BEF-800 or BEF-1000 when you grow.

Industrial-scale glycol fills are typically 30–50 gal of pre-mixed propylene — that's a hazmat freight class on its own. Easier and cheaper for you to buy bulk from a regional HVAC supplier. Food-safe propylene only (never ethylene). Mix to ~30% propylene of total system volume — that's the reservoir (built-in or 67 gal) plus all your fermenter jackets and the connecting glycol trunk. We send a fluid-volume calculation as part of the quote.
