3" Tri-Clamp Oxygen Free HopDrop

Oxygen-Free HopDrop – Tri-Clamp Hop Addition Module

Closed-System Dry Hopping for Pressure Fermentation

Designed to eliminate oxygen exposure during dry hopping, the HopDrop enables clean, secure hop additions to your fermenter under pressure. It connects directly to your Unitank or pressure-rated conical via a 3" tri-clamp butterfly valve, maintaining a sealed environment throughout the process.

A built-in keg post allows purging with CO₂ prior to hop release, ensuring full control over oxygen ingress. The entire system uses sanitary tri-clamp fittings for fast setup and easy cleaning.

Oxygen-Free HopDrop Manual

Tri-Clamp Dry Hop Module for Pressure Fermentation

Overview

The Oxygen-Free HopDrop is a sealed dry hop dosing system designed to add hops mid-fermentation without exposing your beer to oxygen. It connects to your fermenter via a 3″ tri-clamp butterfly valve and features a gas post for CO₂ purging prior to hop release.

This system is ideal for pressure fermentations and closed-loop workflows, preserving hop aroma and avoiding oxidation in hop-forward beer styles.

Components & Connections

  • 3″ Tri-Clamp Butterfly Valve
Mounts directly to the fermenter lid or dedicated 3″ tri-clamp port.
  • Hop Chamber
Stainless steel dry hop dosing body.
  • Ball Lock Gas Post
Allows CO₂ purging using a standard keg-style disconnect.
  • Tri-Clamp Fittings Throughout
For secure, sanitary, and tool-free assembly.

💡 This system is designed for use with pressure-rated fermenters with 3″ tri-clamp ports (e.g., Bräu Supply Unitanks).

🔧 Installation

  1. Sanitize all components thoroughly prior to assembly.
  2. Attach the HopDrop to your fermenter using the 3″ tri-clamp connection and gasket.
  3. Ensure the butterfly valve is in the closed position.
  4. Load hops into the dry hop chamber.
  5. Secure the top tri-clamp cap and gas post assembly.

🌀 Purging Procedure

  1. Connect a CO₂ line to the ball lock gas post.
  2. Open the gas line briefly to purge the chamber (2–3 short bursts recommended).
  3. Wait a few seconds to allow gas to settle, then repeat if desired.
  4. Disconnect the gas line when finished.

✅ This step is essential for preventing oxidation of your beer.

🍺 Hop Addition

  1. Once purged, open the 3″ butterfly valve to drop hops into the fermenter.
  2. Close the valve after the drop is complete.
  3. Monitor fermentation pressure and re-adjust spunding valve or PRV if necessary.

🧼 Cleaning & Maintenance

  • After use, disassemble all tri-clamp components.
  • Rinse and soak in brewery-safe cleaner (e.g., PBW).
  • Rinse thoroughly and sanitize before next use.
  • Inspect gaskets and seals for wear or hop residue.
  • Store dry with all components fully disassembled.

⚠️ Do not pressure-fill or force carbonated beer through the HopDrop. It is designed for dosing only.
