SV2 Electric Brewery Controller

Configuration

Wall-mount 240 V control for single-vessel electric brewing. Runs any 5500W element. Plugs into a standard NEMA 14-30 dryer outlet. No programming, no auto-tuning, no learning curve.

The Bräu SV2 is a wall-mounted brewing control panel built for single-vessel electric systems including the Unibräu All-In, Unibräu DrainPro, and BräuPro. It delivers stable mash temperatures, automatic boil-over protection, and switched power for a pump plus a second 120 V accessory.

Mounting the panel to the wall keeps it off the brew deck, out of standing water, and away from hot surfaces — with the display and switches at eye level where you actually use them.

What You Need to Run It

  • Outlet: 240 V, 30 A, NEMA 14-30R — the same receptacle used for an electric clothes dryer.
  • Element: any 240 V element up to 5500 W terminating in a NEMA L6-30 plug.
  • Vessel: any single-vessel system with a 1.5" tri-clamp thermowell port.

International customers: the SV2 can be supplied without a main plug so the correct connector for your local electrical standard can be fitted.

Built for Continuous Duty

A 5500 W element draws roughly 23 A continuously for the full length of a boil. The SV2 is built around that reality rather than around a nameplate rating.

Over-specified solid state relay. The SSR is rated well above the maximum element load, so it runs far below its thermal limit through an entire brew day. SSRs fail from heat, and heat comes from running them close to their rating.

Heavy-duty heat sink. The SSR is mounted to an oversized finned heat sink that pulls heat away from the switching device and out of the enclosure, keeping junction temperatures low and service life long.

Full contactor for positive disconnect. Solid state relays typically fail closed, which means a failed SSR can leave an element energized. The SV2 places a full mechanical contactor upstream of the element circuit. When the element switch is off, the circuit is physically broken — not just electronically gated. This is the same disconnect philosophy used in commercial brewing control panels.

Enclosure and Controls

The SV2 is housed in a powder-coated steel enclosure, sized for airflow around the heat sink and finished to resist the wet, humid, and occasionally splashed environment of a brew space.

Front-panel switches are water-resistant and LED-illuminated, so the state of every circuit — element, pump, auxiliary — is visible at a glance from across the room.

All external cordage is SOOW: oil-resistant, water-resistant, abrasion-resistant flexible cable with a service rating well beyond typical appliance cord. It stays flexible in a cold garage and does not stiffen, crack, or chalk with age.

Control: Nothing to Program

The SV2 is built around the Auber EZboil, a purpose-designed brewing controller rather than a repurposed industrial PID. It ships ready to brew. There is no auto-tune cycle to run, no PID constants to calculate, and no menu structure to learn before your first batch.

Mash mode holds a target temperature by modulating element power, maintaining a stable mash without the overshoot and hunting typical of an untuned PID controller.

Boil mode drives the element at a set power percentage. As wort approaches boiling, built-in boil detection automatically steps power down to a preset level at a preset temperature — cutting output before the hot break climbs the side of the kettle. The result is a controlled rolling boil instead of a boil-over, without standing at the panel with a hand on the dial.

Outputs

Element output. NEMA L6-30 twist-lock receptacle, 240 V. The locking connection cannot be pulled loose mid-boil and will not back out under cord weight or thermal cycling.

Pump output. Switched 120 V outlet for your wort pump.

Auxiliary output. A second switched 120 V outlet for a chiller pump, a second wort pump, a work light, or any other accessory you want under panel control.

The two 120 V outlets share a 6 A supply. That is ample for wort pumps, which typically draw 1 to 1.5 A, and for lighting and small accessories. It is not intended for compressor-driven equipment — do not run a glycol chiller from the auxiliary outlet. Give refrigeration its own dedicated circuit.
